Soffit & Fascia combined with the Eavestroughs are good ways to improve the exterior of your home.
Soffit is the exterior underside of a home's eaves; it covers the overhang between the end of the roof and the walls of the house.
Fascia board is the vertical finishing edge usually fastened to the ends of rafters or trusses following the roof line, most commonly found where the gutter is attached.
Aluminum Soffit & Fascia have important functions on your home. Soffit can have small holes to allow air intake to the attic and through the roof. Fascia protects the wooden board against the elements without the need to be repainted.
Air intake from the Soffit is so important it can void your roof warranty if not present. And a new eavestrough system when installed over exposed fascia boards will not last as it would otherwise if the fascia was capped with metal.
Unless you are changing for a different colour or adding exterior lights, if a home has an existing Soffit & Fascia system it usually does not need to be replaced when the Eavestrough system is being redone. This is because since the Soffit are covered by the roof it does not deteriorate like the Eavestroughs. An inspection is the best way to tell if each system is OK or, if it should be replaced.
Aluminum Soffit can be used to finish the ceilings of porches, verandas and other large overhangs while remaining weather resistant.
